Training and Practice Session Protocol

1. Gold Standard Examiner (GSE) provides an overview of examination procedures
2. GSE conducts RDC/TMD exam on (EXT)
3. Examiners-in Training (EXT’s) practice on GSE who provides feedback and clarification of all items
4. EXT’s practice on others, including other EXT’s
5. EXT’s repeat steps above as required until GSE determines EXT is trained in examination.

Time Requirements

1. 1-1.25 hours of GSE per each EXT for paired practice.   GSE conducts exam on EXT, then EXT conducts exam on GSE.

2. EXT to EXT paired practice as required to gain proficiency.

Materials Required (Site supplied)

1. *Subjects required:  None, other than other EXT’s and/or GSE

2. *Clinic space:  one operatory for each EXT.  (Note:  if necessary there can be two EXT’s  per each operatory for paired practice).

3. *Endodontic mm ruler (maximum of 65mm), one for each subject

4. *Standard clinical disposables and supplies:  bib, gloves, mask, safety glasses, etc.

5. *Specifications, one complete set reproduced for each examiner      See UW sample. 

6. *Examination forms, one/each examiner for recording comments      See UW sample.
