Calibration Session Protocol
-
All Training and Practice Session steps (steps 1-5, above) are conducted
with all EXT’s both independently and in groups to obtain non-blinded feedback
(i.e., non-blinded calibration).
-
EXT’s independently conduct blinded calibration (not observed or
reviewed by others) on 2-3 subjects, primarily symptomatic TMD patients
-
Entire exam is conducted by each examiner on each of the 2-3 patients.
-
If patients are scheduled simultaneously,
a recorder is assigned to each subject, and the examiners move from
subject to subject. In addition to
recording each exam the recorder keeps a systematic record of observed
variations in examination technique and patient instruction among EXT’s.
-
GSE and EXT’s assemble to review each EXT’s examination experiences.
Data from this session is analyzed and reviewed and from the ensuing
discussion, reexamination of subjects occurs when there is a discrepancy.
-
As much as possible, all examiners examine same subjects in order to
note, discuss and ameliorate differences in examination procedures.
Note: Subjects can be used to
provide feedback and clarification.
